please, remember me
happily
by the rosebush laughing
with bruises on my chin
the time when
we counted every black car passing
your house beneath the hill
and up until
someone caught us in the kitchen
with maps, a mountain range,
a piggy bank
a vision too removed to mention
but
please, remember me
fondly
i heard from someone you're still pretty
and then
they went on to say
that the pearly gates
had some eloquent graffiti
like 'we'll meet again'
and 'fuck the man'
and 'tell my mother not to worry'
and angels with their gray
handshakes
were always done in such a hurry
and
please, remember me
at halloween
making fools of all the neighbors
our faces painted white
by midnight
we'd forgotten one another
and when the morning came
i was ashamed
only now it seems so silly
that season left the world
and then returned
and now you're lit up by the city
so
please, remember me
mistakenly
in the window of the tallest tower call
then pass us by
but much too high
to see the empty road at happy hour
leave and resonate
just like the gates
around the holy kingdom
with words like 'lost and found' and 'don't look down'
and 'someone save temptation'
and
please, remember me
as in the dream
we had as rug-burned babies
among the fallen trees
and fast asleep
aside the lions and the ladies
that called you what you like
and even might
give a gift for your behavior
a fleeting chance to see
a trapeze
swing as high as any savior
but
please, remember me
my misery
and how it lost me all i wanted
those dogs that love the rain
happily
by the rosebush laughing
with bruises on my chin
the time when
we counted every black car passing
your house beneath the hill
and up until
someone caught us in the kitchen
with maps, a mountain range,

but
please, remember me
my misery
and how it lost me all i wanted
those dogs that love the rain
and chasing trains
the colored birds above there running
in circles round the well
and where it spells
on the wall behind st. peter's
so bright with cinder gray
and spray paint
'who the hell can see forever?'
and
please, remember me
seldomly
in the car behind the carnival
my hand between your knees
you turn from me
and said 'The trapeze act was wonderful
but never meant to last'
the clown that passed
saw me just come up with anger
when it filled with circus dogs
the parking lot
had an element of danger
so
please, remember me
finally
and all my uphill clawing
my dear
but if i make
the pearly gates
do my best to make a drawing
of god and lucifer
a boy and girl
an angel kissin on a sinner
a monkey and a man
a marching band
all around the frightened trapeze swingers
the colored birds above there running
in circles round the well
and where it spells
on the wall behind st. peter's
so bright with cinder gray
and spray paint
'who the hell can see forever?'
and

if i didn't have so much to do this weekend i would just sew and sew and sew.
this has been a rough week.
anyways, i thought i would write a bit about ny fashion week since that is what everyone who is anyone seems to be buzzing about right now and since i am SUCH a hipster i have to keep my cred up. anyways... i am an avid fan of the stylish wanderer, but since her posts have recently been disappointing, i have taken to following those bloggers she has listed under 'the fantastics.'
(also, psimadethis has been a wonderful source.)
anyways, now that i am using google reader (damn you, james!), i have been able to sift through the fall rtw '10 collections with lightning speed. and since i have been flying at such a high speed, i really haven't sat down and given some of the collections the proper attention they deserve. some collections that have grabbed my attention, however, have been 3.1 phillip lim, brian reyes, michael kors, derek lam, matthew ames, max azria (BCBG's shoes were ka-ka-ka-killah!), narciso rodriguez, rodarte, araks, erin fetherston, tess giberson, lutz and patmos, ports 1920, juan carlos obando, julian louie, lacoste, richard chai love, and michael angel.
phewf.
quite a few.
so i am planning on doing individual posts on each designer over the weekend.
just bear with me and my mini rant first.
i was NOT impressed by several designers i usually like, though, (COUGH marchesa COUGH proenza schouler COUGH ((i mean come on! i even watched that documentary on you guys!!!)) ). AND MARC BY MARC JACOBS??? what happened, buddy? the show was just... boring? i dunno. it screamed sonia rykiel for h&m with the stripes even though i thought the colors to be nicely selected. and rag & bone? i think i must have seen the shots from that show about fifteen times now. they're absolutely everywhere. some people are just going apey over all of these different collections, and no. just... no. not good. beautiful, yes, but what i had in mind for fall? ready to wear? no. but that's just me.
also, i wasn't really a big fan of the prints everyone was using. a lot of zebra-ish and spotty things that just didn't go over well with me. i don't mind busy ensembles, but the printing was just a bit excessive and distracting. i'd much rather see some beautiful forms than some bizarre prints.
i also refuse to comment on alexander wang's collection since i am still getting over his last amazing show. every piece in that was just breathtaking. this one... not so much, but maybe i just need to look at it as obsessively as i did his previous collection.
as far as trends go, i am most definitely in love with the suiting and minimalism. and the color palette for the most part? let's have babies. i LOVE the nudes with grey. i NEEEEED a camel coat! AND sparkles. everyone who knows me personally knows i have an unhealthy obsession with those things. dear lawd. dynasty much? haha
and michael kors' belts? ugh. amazing.
but the geometric forms are the best!
i have a feeling this is going to be a wonderful season, especially for those of us who are architecturally inclined.

put your hand in my back pocket
as if it were your own back pocket
sing with me, bri (laa daa daa)
cause singin’ makes me wanna do it (thank you)
skate with me (her) to the place where
i (she) once met with mortal danger
the ice was thin and i fell through it
and when i got out i was panicked
and when i'm panicked i can’t skate, no no no
when i got out the bruises on my knees were enormous
once my dad took me ice fishing
i was cold and bored and found myself wish that i was
doing anything else but ice fishing
so I wondered away with my head in outer space
i feel into a hole my dad had drilled into the lake
when he pulled me my dad’s friends could not stop laughing
i almost died it was so embarrassing
as if it were your own back pocket
sing with me, bri (laa daa daa)
cause singin’ makes me wanna do it (thank you)
skate with me (her) to the place where

so put put put put

as if it were your own back pocket
sing with me, bri (laa daa daa)
cause singin’ makes me wanna do it
ski with me (her) to the place where
i (she) once met with mortal danger
i fell in front of a big snow plower
and the truck was going to run me over
and if my dad had not pulled me out of the way
i would not be here to be in love with you today
so put put put put
put your hand in my back pocket
as if it were your own back pocket

this can be our slow song
maybe we can dance better to this speed
maybe our movements will agree at a pace with less haste
as your high heels slide down into the soil
i think about the life below us
we laugh and keep dancing as you descend further down
i think of the worms that move through the dirt
and I feel my skin begin to tighten
i think of the deceased rolling through the clay in response to dishonor
and of the more ancient dead powering our factories
i hold you closer and you murmur something worth talking about later into my ear
i press my sweaty palms to your hips as the tempo picks up
i think of hell below us
maybe our movements will agree at a pace with less haste
as your high heels slide down into the soil
i think about the life below us
we laugh and keep dancing as you descend further down
i think of the worms that move through the dirt
and I feel my skin begin to tighten
