'well all that icing on all that cake...'
-bukowski, modest mouse

dear lawd i could listen to that one line for hours.
such musical genius.
isaac brock's voice sounds like bugs.
i can just see a stream of worms and maggots and ants pouring from between his lips,
writhing and slithering and squirming.
it's amazing.

and why am i so fascinated with bukowski?
i've only read one book and an assortment of poetry.
yes, it is splendidly blunt and profound, but i seem to have a real penchant for all things bukowski.
oh well.

because everyone knows she should have won.
and definitely not buttface mcgee.
v) she thought of the brothers and sisters
wailing through the window,
gurgling in the water,
praying through the runoff.
but she could not feed it.
she no longer knew the path---
she could not absorb the water.

iv) and so the child grew,
quiet and soft
as he faded back into the soil,
his emptied cup watering the tired mother,
seeping through the earth.
her children gathered closely
to caress her arms and whisper through the leaves,
comforts sprouting from their weary tongues.
iii) its life was a gift.
she knew of the mother's sacrifice,
knew this was all he had.
finally something weaker for her to nourish,
to teach the ways of love.

oh this is such an unbelievably sad and beautiful and joyous picture.
how can we really be denied eternity and then awaiting the end of it all?
i'm alive, right?
things will get easier, right?

ii) expression withered between his lips.
he gagged slowly, instinctively, helplessly.
tipping over the glass of water would come
(he feared)
too soon.
and so he hid his fears in the silent girl,
planting them one by one.

if I never see you again
I will always carry you
inside
outside

on my fingertips
and at brain edges

and in centers
centers
of what I am of
what remains.

-bukowski

i) he hated to hurt it--
carving its body,
slicing through its flesh.
but its mother just nodded
as he separated the roots and
cradled the child.
she knew he would tend her baby
and teach her child the ways of love.

they're pretty neat.
yeah for new wave czechs, right?
for some reason these girls remind me of rebecca and enid from ghost world.
dunno.
i think the ghost world girls are cooler, though.
especially in the graphic novel.
especially when they follow the suspected satanists.
oh oh and enid is especially cool when she wears the batman mask.
like i said, these girls are only pretty neat.

haha
another one.

beautiful collection.
everything is so sharp and clean and symmetrical.
wow.

ohmygoodness.

this is just too weird.

the same day i watch 'the talented mr. ripley' and then the sartorialist posts this.

oh, sartorialist.

you read my mind.

my little fashion-loving, movie-watching mind.

i want to hold your hand hand hand hand hand
ok 13 of about 40 channels are currently showing michael jackson's memorial.
this is just ridiculous.
i know he was the 'king of pop' and an icon, but this is a little over-the-top.
i'm not sure if i needed hyphens in that last word there, but i am much too tired and lazy to look up the proper punctuation.

oh.
i've finally gotten around to it, and i can honestly say i despise the video for mgmt's amazingly fun song, kids.
i don't see how this video is appealing or inspiring or scary or funny or anything.
it's just stupid.
the song had so much potential, and i can understand that they didn't want to go with the conventional rave/party video that would have matched the song's vibrancy, but come on, people!
the fan created video was much more entertaining, and i think it fit the song well.
this new concoction of mutilated body parts and disfigured people in some child's strange world does not seem like something most people would want to see. it's not even done in an artistic manner. i, for one, am not into blood and gore, but if it were done properly i could see myself enjoying this video.
i know it's supposedly based on that mark twain quote and all, but still.
i just don't think it was carried out properly.
and on all of the youtube pages hosting this video, no one comments about how awesome the video is or how crazy amazing the monsters were. everyone comments on how that child will need therapy because he has a strange and disturbed psyche.
i, too, have a strange and disturbed psyche after watching this horrible video.
the only plus i can find in this fail of a video is that joanna newsom plays the negligent mother.
she's pretty cool, so i can forgive some of the awfulness in favour of her appearance.
but boo.
boo mgmt.
a video is supposed to be a visual representation of a song, and although there are very few videos that i actually approve of to properly represent the music, i thought mgmt would be able to pull something amazing out of their trippy asses.
oh, mgmt.
it's ok.
the video may be a disappointment, but i continue to listen to oracle spectacular and i will probably fall victim to the next album.
just make it catchy.

everything was beautiful. nothing hurt.

why is everything so simulatenously beautiful and unbearable?
